Family Nature Summit's Age Based Programs

Adult Program (ages 26+)
Spend a week exploring and learning from nationally renowned naturalists, ecologists, artisans and speakers. Adults can choose from many classes and activities throughout the week. Plan a full five days of activities or leave time to explore the area and local history on your own or with your family. The adult program fee pays for all of your classes, hikes, workshops, lectures and programs; although a nominal equipment charge may be applied to certain outfitted activities or craft projects.

Young Adult Program (ages 19 - 25)
Our Young Adults do it all! They combine terrific high adventure opportunities with group instruction from some of the nation's foremost conservation experts, all while enjoying the diverse surroundings of the Summit site. Whether exploring the fascinating world of caves, forests or meadows, rafting through some of the country's most beautiful waters, or discussing conservation issues with a knowledgeable instructor, this dynamic group will approach each task with energy and enthusiasm.

Teen Adventure (ages 15 - 18 yrs old) 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
Teen Adventure program is designed to challenge, both physically and mentally, those youth who have participated in NWF's Family Summits throughout their childhood. Teens spend the week discovering the natural beauty of the area while problem-solving around local environmental issues in hands-on activities facilitated by local conservation professionals. The week's physical challenges may include strenuous hikes, kayaking and an overnight camping trip. Teens will participate in a local service project lead by biologists and area conservation professionals.

Teen Explorer (Ages 13-15 yrs old) 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
Teen Explorer program nurtures a youth's conservation ethic while building outdoor skills in a safe, fun atmosphere. The Summit is the perfect playground for Explorer's to test their nature knowledge and hiking skills amidst the magnificent terrain. Explorers will also be expected to participate in high intensity activities like kayaking or long distance biking, and all teens may spend a night camping.

Junior Naturalist Program (ages 5 - 12) 8:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. with a lunch break
Children ages 5 to 12 will learn about the environment and ecosystems of the area through games, field trips, crafts, workshops, songs, hikes and other activities. At the end of the week, Junior Naturalists will go home having made new friends, and having developed a greater conservation ethic. Family Summits hires experienced environmental educators to spend the week with your children. These educators have first aid certification and are knowledgeable conservationists. To maximize their experience, we group children by age so that they easily make friends and encounter new habitats and animals together.

Preschool Program (ages 3 and 4) 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.
Our youngest students begin learning about the natural world around them with environmental educators who are experienced in working with preschoolers. With a staff-to-child ratio of 1 to 5, Preschool Program, includes micro-hikes, fun with nature crafts, and hands-on activities that increase youngsters' appreciation and understanding of nature. Children MUST be potty-trained.

Child Care

Child care is available from 7:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., for children age 2 and under. Toddlers and infants are well cared for by experienced staff. Child care for children age 3 to 12 is also available prior to and after their regularly scheduled programs. Child care fees are $5.00 per hour per child.
