Home > New To Summit? > Hiking, Kayaking, Climbing, and Other Adventures In our hectic, modern lives it is easy to get lost, to lose a sense of who we really are and why we are here. It is easy to get so busy doing so many things that we loose track of why we are doing them. Exploring the natural world gives us a break from our ordinary routine and a chance to reconnect with the natural world and ourselves. Hiking can be a time to let your mind soar and contemplate the most difficult problems and abstract ideas. Kayaking gives us a chance to leave our mechanized way of life behind for awhile at least and to begin reclaiming our soul's heritage. Climbing brings us close to the elements, and shows us views we might never have seen.
While you are exploring and enjoying nature, you may from time to time feel a presence that communicates with you through the natural beauty of your surroundings. Learn to listen to it. It often comes to us as a few moments of wonder while we are observing the magnificence of nature. Hikes ranging from nature strolls to high adrenaline adventures are widely popular among Summiteers. A broad range of hikes with varying degree of difficulty are offered every day during the Summit. Kayaking,canoeing, and white water rafting are always favorites. We'll float rivers, lakes, or streams, depending on our location. Rock climbing has become a favorite among the more adventuresome adults and young adults. We select sites that include beginner, intermediate, and more advanced climbs. We love finding new ways to explore the natural world.
